Rock Breaking | Rock Hammering
We offer rock and concrete breaking and rock hammering services to efficiently excavate foundations for excavation or removal.

Hydraulic rock hammering is the go-to for breaking through tough bedrock, boulders, and stubborn layers when regular digging just won’t cut it.
Ideal for house slabs, pools, driveways and excavation works
Fast, powerful removal of rock and hard materials
Precision work even on tight access or difficult sites

Rock or Hard Material Ripping & Rock Grabbing
Ripping is the most efficient way to break up weathered rock, shale or hard compacted ground before excavation. Once material is broken free, our rock grab attachment lets us sort, lift and load it straight away, no separate machine or extra site visit needed.

Ripping
Rapid bulk earthworks and site preparation
Ideal for residential sites, subdivisions, roadworks or breaking up old road base
Quieter and less vibration than hammering, perfect for close-to-structure work

Rock Grabbing
Sorts and separates rock from soil, spoil or vegetation
Loads boulders and broken material directly onto trucks for removal
Handles oversized rock that's too big to dig or bucket
Speeds up site clean-up once ripping or breaking is complete

Rock Sawing
For projects needing neat, accurate cuts, not just brute force, our rock sawing services deliver:
Tight access areas
Clean, straight lines through sandstone, concrete or hard rock
Precision cutting: Ensures minimal disruption to surrounding areas
Perfect for trenches, footings, expansion joints, removal or demolition of areas and urban sites
Low vibration and dust for sensitive or built-up locations
Our techniques also enable the removal and repurposing of sandstone for use in retaining walls or other structural features, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

We have two Austramac Flashcut Rock Saws with diamond blades:
2200RM Rock Saw
1400RM Rock Saw

Not Sure Which Service You Need?
You don't need to know exactly which attachment or excavation method is required—that's our job.

Excavator won't dig or keeps bouncing on rock? Rock hammering or ripping may be the solution.
Need holes for piers or footings in rock? Rock and earth boring is usually the best option.
Need clean, accurate cuts for trenches or services? Rock sawing provides precise results with minimal disturbance.
Need to break up hard rock or concrete? Hydraulic hammering is often the quickest and most economical method.
Preparing a site before excavation or construction? Ripping can break up hard ground and old road base efficiently.

Still not sure? Send us your plans, geotechnical report (if available) and a few site photos. We'll review your project, explain the best approach and provide a free quote.

Common Questions

Can you work on tight-access sites?
Yes. We operate compact excavators for narrow access as well as larger machines for more demanding excavation and rockworks.

What happens to the excavated rock, soil or spoil?
Material can be stockpiled on site for reuse or removed to a location nominated by you. We'll discuss the best option before work begins.

Do you provide wet hire?
Yes. We provide experienced operators together with our excavators and specialised attachments to suit your project.

Do you build retaining walls?
Not at the moment. Our current focus is rockworks, earthworks, bored piers, detailed excavation and wet hire. Retaining wall construction is planned to return once our new commercial facility is complete.

I'm not sure what service I need?
That's perfectly fine. Send us your plans, geotechnical report (if available) and a few site photos. We'll review your project, explain the most suitable solution and provide a free, no-obligation quote.
